We had an amazing opportunity to become a part of a great cause – construction of “Family Home” medical support centre, providing temporary home for children with oncological diseases and their families. The “Family Home” project will consist of 11 mini apartments, where children will be able to live with their family throughout the whole healing period. Projects like these have already been acknowledged in other countries as a very successful practice, having positive influence for the wellbeing of children during the healing process.
The healing process of oncological diseases takes quite a long time – in total, it might add up to two years of time in hospital, where only one of the parents can spend time with the child all the time. Having the ability to live in a “Family Home” apartment provides a child and his whole family a home-like atmosphere and emotional support by other children and families, dealing with oncological diseases. Emotional support has been proven to be essential in such cases, and it is especially effective, when received from someone who has a background and experience in a similar situation. What is more, the children and families, temporarily living in the “Family Home”, will have full medical, psychological and social support from medical professionals.
The initiator of the “Family Home” apartment building construction project is Mamų Unija (www.mamuunija.lt) – non profit Lithuanian charity organization, providing financial, psychological and emotional support for children with oncological diseases and their families. Mamų Unija constantly strives to find new ways on how to improve the lives of children and their parents. “Family Home” is their newest initiative, which is being funded solely by private donations. It has gained a lot of contributions from individuals and companies throughout the entire country as well as from Lithuanian communities throughout the whole world. The total required project amount is 2.5 million EUR, and, thanks to all the generous people who made their donations, only 20% of this amount – 500.000 EUR is remaining to finally bring this project to life.
Social responsibility is an area which we, as business owners, take very seriously. Being able to share our financial gains with the ones in need gives us purpose and strong belief that, by working together, great things can be achieved. For us, initiatives like these, where we can help creating a so-much-needed positive change in someone’s life, are some of the most meaningful ways of sharing our financial gains.
We truly believe that by giving, we receive so much more, therefore, we encourage you to support the meaningful causes you believe in.
