When traveler and Yoga teacher Claire de Hass (@clairedehaas_) discovered that the remote Great Blasket Island in Ireland needed a pair of caretakers to look after the only four cottages on the Island, she and her partner Brock Montgomery couldn't refuse to take that opportunity.
Great Blasket Island is one of the most remote places in Ireland, with no permanent residents and no running water or electricity. But, even knowing they would be cut off from the world, Claire and her partner didn't want to give up on the chance of the new challenge. Slow and conscious living is in her blood, so not having shops, bars, or many other conveniences doesn't scare her.
Life on the Island is nothing we experience in our cozy homes. A windmill and solar panel feed a generator, so Claire and Brock could have a hot shower and charge their phones. Once a week, the cottage owners come to them from the mainland with the supplies. If there is a storm, it isn't safe for a boat to come, and they must stay away from the cliff edge for their safety.
We are obsessed that Claire have chosen to live in our linens during her journey!
