Each time you shop small you are helping someone’s dream become their reality | Meet Sarah Heitkemper

Each time you shop small you are helping someone’s dream become their reality | Meet Sarah Heitkemper - notPERFECTLINEN EU

There is a very well-known old saying: “One man’s trash is another man’s treasure”, which perfectly represents the main idea of sustainability – instead of throwing something out, you can reuse it and bring the old item back to life. This way, you can reduce the amount of waste and create something valuable out of what is no longer needed for you. This saying also perfectly applies to our vision of sustainability and an eco-friendly way of doing business. We love quality partnerships; thus, no wonder that we decided to cooperate with Sarah (@etcbysarah) from @sustainableaccessories – an eco-friendly business based on sustainable practices.

Sarah is a small business owner, hand-making stylish accessories from responsibly and sustainably sourced materials. Instead of purchasing raw fabrics for her accessories, she collects the remnant materials, natural/deadstock fabrics or uses second-hand clothing. Sometimes even the tiniest mindful action from our side, such as gifting the remnants of the linen fabric left after the production cycle, can be extremely valuable for others. But, even more excitingly, it could lead to gratifying long-term cooperation, helping another business reach their goals. One of the main messages we want to spread with our work is sustainability and environmental responsibility in fashion; thus, reusing what is left after our production cycle and helping other businesses thrive is a delightful experience for us. While sometimes being sustainable requires a lot of dedication, in this case, all it takes is the willingness to make a small conscious action.

We love supporting sustainable businesses whenever we can. In addition, we are passionate about building meaningful partnerships. Our cooperation with Sarah has been going for some time now – it’s delightful to witness our linen fabric remnants transform into lovely hair scrunchies. This cooperation allows us to be more sustainable in our business by dramatically reducing our production waste and helps our linen fabric remnants be transformed and live a completely new life. We recommend checking out the @sustainableaccessories if you are looking for some unique accessories made with love. We are sure you will recognize our fabric pieces in Sarah‘s scrunchies and find something you like! It’s much more satisfying to wear a piece that has been made with utmost attention, love, and care instead of a mass production one. We encourage you to try looking for opportunities to be more sustainable in your daily life as well – as an ancient Chinese philosopher Lao Tzu said, a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. Being more sustainable and mindful is worth it!
